David "Shorty" Grimes

Mr. David “Shorty” Grimes, 77, of Twin City passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021, at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Grimes was born July 31, 1944 to the late W.C. Grimes Sr. and Thelma McCullough Grimes.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlene Grimes; son, Wayne Grimes; brothers, Walter Grimes, Allen Grimes; sisters, Evelyn Sikes, Martha Grimes, Mary Goodman.  Mr. Grimes enjoyed farming, gardening, and working on cars.  He especially loved his family.

Survivors include his daughters, Mary Ann Grimes, Cheryl Akridge (Buck Walker) of Twin City; sister, Earlene Archer (Lamar); grandchildren, David “Bubba” Williams (Robin Parker), Caleb Akridge; great grandchildren, Bentley Williams, Kataleena Williams, Walker Hall; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Roy Jarriel officiating.

Interment will follow in the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2021, at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Norman Goodman, Ronnie Goodman, W.C. Grimes, Troy Berry, Jody Johnson, and Bill Bird.
