Denise (Kit) Pearl Hillis

Denise Pearl Hillis (Kit) of Kite Georgia, passed away at Atrium Health in Macon on Tuesday August 25, 2026 at the age of 84. She was born on February 3, 1942 to Bryan and Denise Couture-White in Rouyn Quebec. She married John Leslie Hillis in 1964, and together they shared 49 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Hillis, her daughter Denyse Page, Mother, Denise Currie, Father Bryan Couture-White, sister Heather Lefebrvre, and an aunt Ida Marie Modesto. She is survived by her brothers Bruce Couture-White (Cid) of Sebring, Florida, Bryan Couture-White (Patrice) of Pembroke, New Hampshire. A daughter, Shannon Blankenbeckler (Charles) of Wilmington, North Carolina. Her grandchildren Meagan Stapleton (Steven) of Kite Georgia, Summer Warren (Michael) of Rentz Georgia, Jordan Norris of Wilmington North Carolina, Grant Blankenbeckler of Arlington Virginia, and Carson Blankenbeckler of Grafenwoehr Germany. She is survived by her great-grandchildren whom she adored Dylan Warren, Tyler Warren, Alayna Stapleton, Gracie Stapleton, Jim Stapleton, Raylin Stapleton, Jaxon Stapleton, Wyatt Stapleton, Violet Norris, with one great-great grandson Brixton Kendall.

She was a strong and independent woman who lived life on her own terms. She was a woman of her word—honest, straightforward, and always willing to tell you like it was. But beneath that strength was a heart filled with tremendous love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride.

She loved bringing people together and was happiest when her home was filled with family, friends, good food, and laughter. She especially enjoyed entertaining, cooking for those she loved, and hosting her beloved Christmas parties, creating memories that her family will treasure for years to come. She loved playing cards and spending time with her family, always finding a way to turn ordinary moments into special ones.

Her dogs were more than pets—they were her cherished fur children and held a very special place in her heart. She treasured her Canadian family and loved visiting them whenever she was able, making those times together especially meaningful.

She will be remembered for her strength, independence, honesty, generosity, and fierce love for the people and animals who meant the most to her. Her presence was one-of-a-kind, and the memories she created with her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Per Kit’s wishes no funeral service will be held. Friends are welcome to leave condolences and memories to the family.
