Dennis Arnold Youngblood

March 10, 1946 — October 23, 2013

Dennis Arnold Youngblood, age 67, said farewell to family and friends as he entered into eternal rest to receive his reward and be with the Lord on October 23, 2013.  He was under the loving care of his wife Mary, daughters, Gail and Sherry, sons, Stevie and Patrick and sisters, Marilyn and Edna.  He was blessed to enter the devoted care of Serenity Hospice at his home on September 26, 2013.

Mr. Youngblood was born at home in Oak Park in Emanuel County in the year 1946 to loving parents, Ernest Spencer and Maggie Riner Youngblood.

An account of some of his life:
He begin working at the early age of 4, picking cotton beside his mother, and later at age 8, he was driving a wagon transporting cotton.  At the age of 12 he had his own paper route.  Later as a man he worked at Calvine Factory, Union Camp, International Paper, just to name a few, and retired from Battle Lumber in 2013.  Dennis was a devoted man of Faith and drew his strength from the love of Christ.  To all who knew him, he was a friend who exemplified his belief in God as his Heavenly Father and his Savior Jesus Christ.  He also had an enduring love and interest for his church, Blundale Baptist, where he came a member in 1996.

Over the years he had served as:
Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, worked with the youth, and drove the bus.  He became a ordained deacon in 1998, and later served as chairman for 7 ½ years.  He was a member of the Brotherhood, occasionally sang with the choir, and was willing to help wherever he was needed.  He was a loving husband and father who was loved more than can be expressed!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Spencer and Maggie Riner Youngblood, his wife of 40 years, Sharon E. Stroud Youngblood and grandson, Lucas Scott Youngblood.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Mary B. Youngblood; children, Gail and Stevie Aldrich, Scott and Trisha Youngblood, John and Paula Valliere, Patrick and Sherry Valliere and Jennifer and Tony Lesley; grandchildren, Tiffany and Gabby Hopkins, Tiffany and Cale Henriott, Maci Aldrich, Faith Youngblood, Madison Youngblood, Garrett Hall, Connor Valliere, Ryan Valliere, Nicholas Lesley, Kyle Lesley, Jacob Lesley; sisters, Charlotte Edna Wood and Marilyn Christine Nichols; nieces, nephews, his church family and many friends.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate the life of Mr. Dennis Youngblood at Chapman Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2013.

Funeral Service will be at the Blundale Baptist Church at 11:00 o’clock Saturday, October 26, 2013 with Reverends Jamie Archer, Daniel Gilliam, Bunny Hudson and Louis Pearce officiating.  Mr. Youngblood will Lie in State one hour prior to service.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers are the men of the church.
