Mr. Donald Wright “Don” Rountree, 69, of Swainsboro died Friday, June 20, 2014 at his residence following a brief illness.
Mr. Rountree was born December 8, 1944 in Emanuel County to the late George Ivey Rountree and Annie Louise Sconyers Rountree. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Ann Johnson; brothers, George Robert Rountree and James Allen Rountree. Mr. Rountree was a life long resident of Emanuel County. Mr. Rountree worked with Automatic Sprinkler for over 20 years. In 1993, he started working in Funeral Service. Mr. Rountree was employed with Chapman Funeral Home and Eastbrook Cemetery. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Emanuel Christian Ministries. Don will be missed by all.
Survivors include his daughter, Gennie Tapley of Swainsboro; grandchildren, PaPa’s Girl Sara Donyale Tapley of Swainsboro, Papa’s Man James Hunter Tapley of Swainsboro; sister, Mary Edith White of Twin City; brothers, John Emmitt (Linda) Rountree and Thomas Edward “Tommy” (Dottie) Rountree both of Swainsboro, Roy Joe (Katherine) Rountree and David (Cindy) Rountree both of Statesboro; special friend, Glenda Avery of Swainsboro; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Emanuel Christian Ministries at 11:00 a.m. Monday morning, June 23, 2014 with Elder Tommy Rountree and Reverends Bunny Hudson and Ronnie Collins officiating. Mr. Rountree will Lie in State one hour prior to service. Interment will be in the Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Swainsboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening, June 22, 2014 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Daryl Rountree, Tommy White, Jack White, Mark Rountree, Timothy Rountree, Matt Rountree, Allen White and Darwin Tapley.
Honorary Pallbearers are ECI Class of 1964 and the Men of Emanuel Christian Ministries.
