Mr. Donnie Elmer Price, 73, of Swainsboro, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Scott Health and Rehab in Adrian, GA, after an extended illness. Mr. Price was born on May 31, 1950, to the late Elmer Tom Price and Mary Evelyn Peebles of Kite, GA.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Price cherished spending quality time with family at "the barn," where he loved to cook and entertain all his friends. He also enjoyed fishing, collecting antiques, riding around on the hunting club and watching the Georgia Bulldogs play. He was well known for his delicious crab stew, homemade tartar sauce, savory black-eyed peas with sausage, and lacey cornbread. Above all, he treasured the moments spent with his precious grandchildren. He loved taking them on outings to Walmart, treating them to ice cream at Dairy Queen, and bringing them to church, creating lasting memories that they would cherish forever.

Mr. Price enjoyed a fulfilling career as the Senior Chief Ranger at the Georgia Forestry Commission, where he devoted over 30 years of service from 1973 until his retirement in 2006. His commitment to excellence was recognized with an Honorable Certificate of Appreciation for the Forestry Field Day in 1994 from the District Georgia Forestry Commission. He also earned several awards, including Public Service Awards from the Swainsboro Jaycees in 1982 and the Swainsboro Exchange Club in 1993, as well as an Appreciation Award from the Kiwanis Club in 1995. His dedication to agriculture was honored when he was named Honorary Chapter Farmer by the Future Farmers of America in 1981. Additionally, he was an esteemed member of the National FFA Organization and the Georgia Peace Officers Association, and he served as a Reserve Deputy for the Emanuel County Sheriff's Department.

Mr. Price was a long-time member of the Gideons and an actively engaged member through his involvement at Canoochee Baptist Church. His legacy of service and his love for family and friends will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.

Mr. Price is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gail Price of Swainsboro; sons, Joel Price of Metter, Mack (Liz) Price of Swainsboro; daughter, Christy (Todd) Ellington of Swainsboro; brother, Johnny Price of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Trey, Colton, Cora, Bryer, Anna, Charleigh, Jack; and his niece, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, February 24, 2024, in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverends Louis Pearce and Mark Wiggins officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. prior to service.

Interment will follow at Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Lawrence, Seneca Lawrence, Jamie Henry, Tal Henry, Mike Henry, Ricky Winfrey.

Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Gentlemen's Hunting Club.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA   22116-7023.
