Doris "Dottie" Griffin Rountree

Mrs. Doris “Dottie” Griffin Rountree, 73, of Swainsboro passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at her residence following an extended illness.

Mrs. Rountree was born November 21, 1948, in Lyons to Eric Griffin and Hazel Fuller Griffin. She was preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents, Walton and Lillie Griffin; sister, Saundra Martin. Mrs. Dottie enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, and camping at Lake Burton.  She especially loved attending extracurricular events for her grandchildren.   Mrs. Rountree was a member of Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Elder Tommy Rountree of Swainsboro; sons, Timothy Rountree (Paige) of Statesboro, Matthew Rountree (Jessica) of Swainsboro; daughter, Tammy Rountree Davis of Statesboro; grandchildren, Griffin Davis, Will Rountree, Chloe Rountree, all of Statesboro, Ellie Rountree of Swainsboro; special cousin, Michael Griffin (Deborah) of Twin City; brother, Eric Griffin, Jr. (Mary) of The Florida Keys; sister, Faye Frazier of Logan, UT; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Will Martin and Mr. Rick Berry officiating.

Interment will follow at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church.

Pallbearers are Matthew Rountree, Timothy Rountree, Griffin Davis, Will Rountree, Michael Griffin, and Taylor Brett.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to PruittHealth Hospice of Swainsboro or Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
