A Life Well Lived
Dwayne Spencer Merrion was born January 26, 1965 as the 5th child to the union of the late Reverend Lucious Merrion, Jr. and the late Mrs. Lillie Mae Evans Merrion . He, along with his four siblings, mother and father, were all born in Swainsboro, Georgia. Many remember Dwayne as a young man working in the family’s dry cleaning business.
Dwayne spent his formative years in Swainsboro. He attended Swainsboro Elementary School and Swainsboro High School, graduating in the Class of 1983. He enjoyed all sports, especially swimming. He was nicknamed “Fish” by his family and friends because he spent countless days every summer swimming at the community pool.
Dwayne attended Paine College in Augusta, Georgia having earned academic and track scholarships. He graduated from Paine College in 1987 with a BS Degree in Business Administration. After graduating from Paine, Dwayne worked as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist at Fort Gordon and Delta Airlines. He continued to leverage his IT skills working as an independent contractor. Additionally, his work included serving as a Director in the Operations Department and Vision Keeper at World Changers Church International.
Dwayne loved his family deeply. The love of Dwayne’s life was his loving and faithful wife, Juanite Harper Merrion. Juanite and Dwayne were high school classmates and enjoyed a special bond through the years. Dwayne found joy traveling and visiting places like South Africa, South America, and Hawaii.
Celebrating Dwayne’s life and cherishing memories are his wife Juanite; four children – Synetria Pauldo (Gerald), Dublin, Georgia, Antoina Jones, Nicholas Harper, and Quintavius Jones, Ohio.; a special granddaughter Marcie Franklin; sisters – Mary Merrion Connor, and Mae Merrion Gilley (Anthony), Atlanta; brothers – Lucious Merrion, III, and Dennis Merrion (Annette), Upper Marlboro, Maryland; sister-in-law Barbara Washington (Louis); brothers-in-law Jesse Brown and Clayton Harper; several beautiful grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, and a host of dear relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11:00am at Chapman Funeral Home.
