Mr. Earl Thomas Ivey, 90, of Wrightsville passed away Tuesday night, December 1, 2015 at the Greenwood Assisted Living Facility following an extended illness.
Mr. Ivey was born January 13, 1925 in Wrightsville to the late Virgil Thomas Ivey and Katie Mae Sumner Ivey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bronnie Price Ivey; brother, Eroice Ivey. Mr. Ivey was a lifelong resident of Johnson County. He loved playing the guitar, singing, writing songs, and selling junk. Mr. Ivey was a generous man, giving to those who were in need. Mr. Ivey was known as the man who would give the shirt off of his back. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who instilled great values.
Survivors include his daughter, Lynn (Jerry) Howell of Wrightsville; grandchildren, Jason (Aubrey) Keyton of Dublin, Kelli Keyton (Kevin) Durden of Wrightsville and Chase (Lindsey) Howell of Kite; great grandchildren, Ivey, Zane, Amelia, Maggie, Bryn, and Wilson; brother-in-law, Sammy Price of Wrightsville; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Maple Springs Methodist Church at11:00 a.m. Friday morning, December 4, 2015 with Pastors Chad Waller and Roger Holley officiating.
Interment will be in the Westview Cemetery in Wrightsville.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday, December 4, 2015 at Maple Springs Methodist church.
Pallbearers are Johnny Keyton, Jerry Outlaw, Hugh Veal, Veal Moorman, Marty Pritchard, Walen Roberts, Alan Wilkerson, and Marty Thompson.
