Mr. Earl Newsome, 82, of Kite passed away Friday, October 13, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Earl was born in Kite on January 24, 1941, to Elton Newsome and Eula Mae Way Newsome. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Martha Lee Newsome.
Mr. Earl Newsome was born on a small farm. He went to work in Treutlen County as a deputy sheriff as a young man. Shortly after he went into trucking which became his passion. He loved driving and working on trucks and long hauls out to California. When he wasn’t driving trucks, he was talking about them. He loved his sports cars, but more than anything he loved his family. His grandson Justin held a very special place in his heart. The last years of his life were spent with his faithful companion and best friend, Buddy (his dog).
Earl is survived by his son, Sammy (Lynn) Newsome of Kite; daughters, Angela (Todd) Griffin of Adel and Tammy Trujillo of Metter; grandchildren, Justin Newsome, Blake Morrison, Tyler Morrison, Jacob Griffin, Dakota Edenfield (Megan), Devin Edenfield, and Alex Trujillo; sister, Annette Jenkins of Adel; several Great-grandchildren; his beloved dog, Buddy; and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2023, in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Hardin officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brent Fails, Bill Hackle, Kelly Thigpen, Vance Adams, Raymond Wilson, and Jeff Coursey.
