Mr. Elbert “Perunia” Wilson, 73, of Swainsboro passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at University Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Wilson was born December 1, 1942 in Emanuel County to the late Tom Wilson and Sallie Mae Hall Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, W.E. “Bo” Wilson and Grable Wilson; sisters, Grace Douglas, Tommie Shepherd, and Artie Nell Edenfield. Mr. Wilson loved working in the yard, garden, and riding his tractor. He especially loved his children and grandchildren. Mr. Wilson attended Mt. Shady Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara H. Wilson of Swainsboro; sons, Alan (Pam) Wilson and Terry (Shana) Mason both of Swainsboro; sisters, Laura Sallie Robertson and Sandra (Jimmy) Proctor both of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Bobby (Amanda) Wilson, Kati (Owen) Bailey, and Jacob Mason; great-grandson, Case Alan Wilson.; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Mt. Shady Baptist Church 11:00 AM Tuesday morning, June 14, 2016 with Reverends Rusty Moore and Wayne Page officiating. Mr. Wilson will lie in state one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Norristown.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday evening, June 13, 2016 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Buster Edenfield, Larry Wilson, Charles Akridge, Matt Proctor, Charles Douglas, William Henry, Wendell Wilson, and Greg Odom.
Honorary Pallbearers are co-workers at Husqvarna, and Mitch Proctor.
