Elizabeth L. Jackson

August 27, 1938 — September 22, 2015

Ms. Elizabeth L. Jackson, 77, of Swainsboro passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2015 at her residence following an extended illness.

Ms. Jackson was born August 27, 1938 in Swainsboro to the late Olan Jackson and Ruby Rushing Jackson.  She was preceded in death by her sisters, Etta Mae Peebles, Mary Coleman, and Lois Williams; brothers, Billy Jackson, Alvin Jackson, and Alton Jackson.  Ms. Jackson was a lifelong resident of Emanuel County. She liked to work in her yard, watch her humming birds and loved everyone she came in contact with.  She was a member of the Kite Church of God.

Survivors include her son, Richard Wayne Newsome of Swainsboro; daughter, Elizabeth Rebecca Sapp (Brian) Rogers of Dublin; brother, Irvin (Gail) Jackson of Jesup; sister, Martha Ann (Huey) Steptoe of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Jeffery Newsome of Atlanta, Derick Newsome of Savannah, Richard Wayne Newsome, Jr., and Kimberly Newsome both of Statesboro; great grandson, Daniel Newsome of Dublin; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services will be held at the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015 with Reverend Allen Meeks officiating.

Interment will be in the Eastbrook Cemetery near Swainsboro.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Scotty Mckenzie, Luke Mckenzie, Jerry Caraway, and Mitch Jackson.
