Ernestine Brantley

Ms. Ernestine “Ernie” Brantley, 76, of Swainsboro, passed away at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, GA on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

Ernie was born in Wellborn, FL, to the late Reuben Harley and Marion Inez Roberts. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lake City Community College, now Florida Gateway College, where she later worked as the Athletic Secretary for many years. She will be remembered for being “Grammy” to all of her grandchildren, and Ernie or Momma E to the college students she helped in her life and career.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters, and a stepson, Christopher Jones.

She is survived by her partner of fifteen years, Mitch Jones, her children, Teresa Bickel Holliday, Ronald (Sharla) Bickel, and Travis (Bobbi) Brantley, her stepchildren, Mitchell Jones, Shana Collins, Corrine Henry, and Lynn Jones, many grandchildren, and a longtime friend, Faye Paradise.

At this time no services are planned.
