Etheyl Douglas Sconyers

August 19, 1927 — March 28, 2017

Mrs. Etheyl Douglas Sconyers, 89, of Kite passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 28, 2017, at Community Hospice in Vidalia following an extended illness.

Mrs. Sconyers was born August 19, 1927 to the late Walter G. Douglas and Mary Flanders Douglas.     She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Sconyers former employee of Coca Cola in Augusta; sister, Sybal Douglas Williams; and brother, Thetus L. Douglas. Mrs. Sconyers was a lifelong resident of Emanuel County and a loving mother.  Everyone knew Mrs. Sconyers as Aunt E.  She enjoyed her flowers, needlework and was an expert seamstress.  Mrs. Sconyers was a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Gwen Sconyers of Kite; sister, Corliss Douglas Allen (Willard) of Lake City FL; nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church at 11a.m. Saturday morning, April 1, 2017 with Elder Tommy Rountree and Elder Sam Adkins officiating. Mrs. Sconyers will lie in state one hour prior to service.

Interment will follow in the Sardis Cemetery near Kite.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8p.m. Friday afternoon, March 31, 2017 at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Larry Morrison, Trojan Harrison, Steve Jones, Thomas Sconyers, Phil Allen, Ed Allen and Mitchell Moore.
