Evelyn "Sally" Hood

Ms. Evelyn “Sally” Hood, 74, of Kite passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 at Memorial Health following an extended illness.

Ms. Hood was born December 1, 1945 in Swainsboro to the late Felton Newsome and Mary Radford Newsome. She is preceded in death by her parents, Felton Newsome and Mary Radford Newsome; husband, Larry Hood. Ms. Hood was a member of Kite First Baptist Church, but enjoyed visiting other churches and making new friends. Her first love was her Lord, followed by her family and friends. Ms. Hood loved animals, especially her dogs, and seemed to have a special way with them.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Lloyd) Slater of Kite; step-father, Leland Tapley of Kite; brother, Billy (Helen) Newsome of Kite; grandsons, Austin Hood and Cody (Teresa) Usry, both of Kite; and many friends.

Funeral Services will be Friday, September 18, 2020 2 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Burton Dixon and Reverend Morris Brantley.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in the Moxley Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Trojan Harrison, Mark Smith, Doc Claxton, Trenton Thigpen, Ricky Henry, and Cody Usry.

In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6 feet rule will be enforced during visitation and service.
