Mr. Fred D. McCoy was born in Screven County on October 27, 1945, to the late James McCoy and the late Leola Byrd McCoy. He was married to Adell Foreman McCoy for twenty one years and they had two daughters, Connie M. Gibbons and Tammie M. Lindy, both of Garfield. He passed into eternal rest of Monday, June 10, 2024. He worked on the Clark’s farm for a number of years until his health fell. He was a John Deere man at heart. He was a gold care member of the Spring Fountain #414 lodge for 35 years. He joined Union Chapel Baptist Church at a young age and served on the deacon board for a number of years. Later he joined the usher board until his health fell.
Mr. Fred Douglas McCoy leaves the following loved ones behind to cherish many fond memories; his loving daughters, Connie M. Gibbons, Tammie M. Lindy; grandchildren, Ali’ Clark, (Shantera) of Statesboro, Ashley Clark of Garfield, Andi Gibbons of Atlanta, and Asia Gibbons of Garfield; great grandchildren, Aycen Fleming, Kinsely Clark, Kash Clark, Austin Gibbons; his loving sisters, Louise Clark of Augusta, Lorene Carlyle of Twin City; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral Service will be Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Union Chapel Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M., officiating Pastor Raymond Hairston, assisted by Minister Ralph Carlyle.
Interment will follow at Union Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery
The family will receive friends 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Mr. McCoy’s nephews and masonic brothers.
