Mr. Gary A. Renew, 48, of Stillmore passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 27, 2016, at his residence following a brief illness.
Mr. Renew was born April 28, 1967 in Swainsboro, GA. to Charles Renew and Edith Thigpen Renew. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Ann Thigpen Renew; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Editha Thigpen; paternal grandparents, John and Eudell Renew. Mr. Renew was a lifelong resident of Emanuel County. He was a 1987 graduate of Swainsboro High School. Mr. Renew graduated from Armstrong State College with a degree in criminal justice. After graduation, he began working with local law enforcement and was currently employed with Toombs County Sheriff Department. Mr. Renew dedicated 15 years to law enforcement and 20 years being a Volunteer Fireman with Stillmore Fire Department. He loved spending time at the river, hunting, and loved being with his family and especially his grandchildren. Mr. Renew attended Stillmore Baptist Church and Nunez Baptist Church.
Survivors include his father, Charles Renew of Stillmore; daughter, Jessica (Devin) Pierce of Stillmore; sons, Thomas (Danielle) Renew of Twin City and Alston Renew of Twin City; sister, Theresa Carol (Dennis) Davis of Stillmore; brother, Charles Thomas (Margaret) Renew of Evans; grandchildren, Lacey Pierce, Payton Pierce, D. J. Pierce and Ethan Renew; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. Saturday morning, April 30, 2016 with Reverends Lee Gaston and Jim Harrell officiating.
Interment will follow in the Stillmore City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5pm. to 8pm. Friday afternoon, April 29, 2016 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Toombs County Sheriff Department Honor Guard.
Honorary Pallbearers will be law enforcement and fire personnel.
