George E. Matty

Mr. George E. Matty, 74, of Metter passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Community Hospice in Vidalia following an extended illness.

Mr. Matty was born on August 23, 1944 in Millen to the late George F. Matty and Violet Turner Matty.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Georgianna Cowart.  Mr. Matty was a construction foreman for United Federation of Carpenters and Joiners of America Union.  He loved computers and model trains and airplanes.  George especially loved decorating for Christmas and was a jack of all trades.  Mr. Matty was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Kay A. Matty of Metter; son, George E Matty, Jr. (Jennifer) of Metter; daughter, Hope Hart (Jay) of Shirley, NY; brother, Leslie Matty (Maureen) of New York; sister, Adella Librizzi of Metter; grandchildren, Benjamin, Jonathan, Luke, and Christopher.

Funeral Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2019 with Father Gordian Iwuji officiating.

Interment will follow in Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Garfield.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Chapman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 1110 South Lewis Street, Metter, GA  30439.

Pallbearers are Luke Hart, Michael Wedincamp, Jimmy Wedincamp, Blake Librizzi, George Librizzi and Casey Brown.
