Mr. George L. “G. L.” Collins, 62, of Oak Park, died January 7, 2015 at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness.
Mr. Collins was born October 11, 1952 in Oak Park, to the late Guyton Collins and Laura Wheeler Collins. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Ronella Anderson Collins; sister, Joyce Reynolds. Mr. Collins was a life long resident of Emanuel County. He enjoyed dancing at the Oak Park Community Building, liked going to the river, loved to cook and be with family and friends.
Survivors include his sons, George Mitchell Collins and Joshua David Collins; brother, William Buddy (Trina) Collins of Oak Park; sisters, Pauline Phillips of Reidsville, Jewell Pullum of Metter, Iris Griffin Lanigan of Oak Park, Judy Collins (Buck Hooks) of Wesley; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial service will be held at the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015 with Rev. Robert Beckum officiating.
Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service.
Burial will be private.
