Ms. Gertrude Jackson Smith, 92, of Twin City passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Emanuel Medical Center following an extended illness.

Ms. Smith was born November 19, 1927 in Columbia, S.C. to the late William J. Taylor and Whillamena Taylor Bright.  She is preceded in death by her husbands, Lonnie Jackson, Sr. and Henry Smith; daughter, Betty Jean Jackson; sisters, Olera P. Allen, Beatrice McKnight; brother, William J. Taylor; granddaughter, Tanya L. Fair. Ms. Smith loved watching tv shows, scary movies, holidays and spending time with her family.  Ms. Smith enjoyed helping anyone she could.  She loved going to church at Willow Springs Baptist Church where she was a member.  Ms. Smith will truly be missed by many friends and family members.

Survivors include her sons, Lonnie Keith Jackson (Linette) of Hettinger, ND, Michael David Jackson (Deborah) of Twin City; grandchildren, Andrea Kim Walker, Vanessa Kopp, Lavernis A. Walker (Virginia), Ronald Walker, Tanisha Walker, Dawn Colbert, Bryan Jackson, Lonnie Jackson, III, Michael Richardson (Shakita) Ray Richardson, Telisa Claudio (Keith); sisters; Rebecca A. Bradley, Arlene Phillips, Peggy Bright, Rosalind McCray; sisters-in-law; Ann Taylor, Lois Williams; cousin, Taylor Fing; special friends, Ethel Lee Washington, Virginia Hodge, Maria & Carlos Remolina, Sunny Shah; host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Graveside Service will be Saturday, July 18, 2020 3 p.m. at Willow Springs Cemetery with Reverend Joel Davis officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 17, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Jerry Milton, Sammy Kirkland, Michael Jackson, Albert Jones, Keith Jackson, and Michael Cuyler.

In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6 feet rule will be enforced during viewing and service.
