Glenda (Braswell) Moxley

December 17, 1949 — October 16, 2024

Swainsboro

Mrs. Glenda Moxley, 74, of Swainsboro passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at her residence following an extended illness.  She was born on December 17, 1949, in Baxley to the late Lois Lee Braswell and Fannie Lee Love Braswell. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Vicki Moxley; brothers, Jimmy Braswell, Johnny Baswell; sister Mary Elizabeth Barwick; son-in-law, Sewell Beasley.

Glenda was known for her calm, quiet and sweet nature.  She had unwavering love and support for her family.  She was a devoted wife and mother, always there to give a soft-spoken word of encouragement and sound advice.  Glenda loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and exemplified James 1:19 “Quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger”.  To know her was to love and adore her.  She had a smile that would melt your heart.  Her hobbies included reading, planting flowers, watching soap operas and she loved to laugh but most of all, she loved being a mother and grandmother who taught her children to be kind and loving.

Glenda was not only a dedicated wife and mother, but she was also a dedicated worker with a strong work ethic.  She carried that work ethic to every job she held.  She worked at Creston’s Knitting Mill, then worked at Roper (AYP) for many years.  Glenda also worked at H & R Block before retiring.

Her later years were spent at home loving and serving her family well.  On her hardest days, she always found joy in cracking jokes and making others laugh.  She is now made whole and worshipping at the feet of Jesus.  She will be missed terribly.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dewey Moxley of Swainsboro; son, Daniel Moxley (Karen) of Garfield; daughters, Brenda Beasley of Vidalia, Julie Moxley (Matt Roberts) of Waynesville; brothers, Remer Braswell (Ida Carolyn) of Dothan, AL, Billy Braswell of Swainsboro, Donald Braswell (Lisa) of Laurens, SC; sisters, Carolyn Way (Wayne) of Dellwood, Sandra Whitfield of Twin City, Gail Rowland of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Justin Moxley (Macy), Haylie Dawkins (Tyler), Kaitlin Fulghum (Jacob), Hannah Moxley, Ansley Moxley, Devin Deal; 6 great-grandchildren, and many friends.

Interment will follow in Moxley Cemetery.
