Gloria (Slater) Beckworth

Ms. Gloria Slater Beckworth, 65, of Swainsboro passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020 at her residence following an extended illness.

Ms. Beckworth was born March 30, 1954 in Emanuel County, GA. to the late Willie Slater and Madge Bedgood Slater.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nolan Beckworth; brothers, Paul Slater, Sr., Willie Slater, Jr., Lester Slater; son-in-law, Curt Beckum; great-grandson, Grant Hill. Ms. Beckworth enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She loved collecting coins. Ms. Beckworth was of the Church of God Faith.

Survivors include her sons, James Earl Sherrod, Jr. of Stillmore, Ronnie Sherrod (Teresa) of Oak Park; daughters, Shirley Stapleton (James) and Cindy Moore (Kenneth) both of Swainsboro, Dorothy Beckum of Cobbtown, Cynthia Sherrod of Stillmore; brother, Wayne Slater (Shelby) of Stillmore; sisters, Sarah Mosley of Stillmore, Kathy Beecher (Bobby) of Oak Park; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren with one on the way; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, January 26, 2020 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. George Archer officiating.

Interment will follow at Stillmore City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Richard Mosley, Matt Slater, Jonathan Slater, Mark Slater, Dylan Slater, Paul Slater, Matt Glisson, and Jessie Brown.
