Gordon Eugene "Gene" Screws, Jr.

Mr. Gordon “Gene” Eugene Screws, Jr., 55, of Swainsboro passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at his residence following a brief illness.

Mr. Screws was born February 26, 1965 in Swainsboro to the late Gordon Eugene Screws, Sr. and Nancy Radford Screws. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bobbie Hackle; nephew, Frank Hackle. Mr. Screws loved the mountains, to eat and cook, and joking and clowning around. He loved people and loved life. Mr. Screws was a member of Holton’s Chapel in Soperton.

Survivors include his wife Wandal Screws of Swainsboro; son, Robert Screws of Swainsboro; daughters, Jennifer (Grover) Vickery of Girard, Ashley (Tony) Johnson of Swainsboro; nieces, Wanda (Spencer) Wood of Adrian, Jan (Dan) Ruhs of Bonaire, Lynn (Billy) Johnson of Columbia, MS; aunt, Lulu Bell Kellams of Swainsboro; 4 grandchildren, and many friends.

Graveside Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum with Reverends Morris Brantley and Ricky Downs officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Cody Usry, Tony Johnson, Grover Vickery, Dan Ruhs, Shannon Lemonds and Bill Hackle.

Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Munns, Glenn Grimes, Boyd Palmore, Hugh Johnson, Jeffrey Brewer, Tyson Stephens and George Culbreth.

In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6 feet rule will be enforced during visitation and service.
