Mr. Harvey J. Meeks, 86, of Swainsboro who passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Emanuel Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Meeks was born April 14, 1935, in Kite to Sidney Meeks and Molly Flanders Meeks. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bobbie Jean Smith Meeks; son, Darrell Meeks; brothers, James Meeks, Weldon Meeks, Clifford Meeks; and sister, Willie T. Durden. Mr. Meeks proudly served in the National Guard. Mr. Meeks retired from Swainsboro Sportswear. He was the Justice of the Peace for Emanuel County and served on City Council for several years. Mr. Meeks was also a paramedic for Emanuel County.
Mr. Meeks leaves to cherish his memories with his wife, Bobbie Soles Meeks of Swainsboro; daughters, Sherry Ripperger (Dwayne Sumner) of Adrian, Dana Stanford (Gary) of Ty Ty, Carla Johnson (Craig) of Adrian; sister, Ruth Rountree of Kite; brother, George A. Meeks of Kite; grandchildren, Matthew Ripperger (Kate Jackson), Kayla Sumner (Larry), Justin Johnson (Sandy); great-grandchildren, Autumn Scott, Nollan Scott, Cole Sumner, Weston Johnson, Ethan Johnson, and Ava Johnson; and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2022, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Allen Meeks and Reverend Robert Webb officiating.
Interment will follow at Eastbrook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Steve Meeks, Andy Meeks, Thomas Meeks, Tim Rountree, Joshua Meeks, and Kelmer Durden, Jr.
