Mrs. Helen Edenfield Scott, 86, of Swainsboro passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Scott was born on October 16, 1936, in Swainsboro to the late Cecil Hardeman Edenfield and Irene Roberson Edenfield. She married her husband, the late Wayne Sullivan Scott, in 1960. Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Donald Edenfield, Ann Bowen, and Hazel Edenfield.
She was a homemaker for many years before working at Delores and Woody’s Shops numerous years. Then, Emanuel County Schools Food Service until retiring in 2003. She was a member of Calvary Methodist Church.
Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mema and Meme, as she was affectionately called, enjoyed cooking Sunday lunch, fried chicken was her specialty, for her family. She was an excellent seamstress. She took pride in her home. She loved decorating for every season. Her passion was flower gardening. You could always find her working in her yard or sitting on her deck admiring the hundreds of flowers.
She is survived by her children, Debra Jones (Jerry), Beverly Lawson (Jerry), Larry Scott (Michelle), and Kristie Irvin (Jay), all of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Brooke Marsh (Edmond), Brianna Brown (Kenny), Haley Brantley (Logan), and Macy Gay (Josh), all of Swainsboro, Rhett Scott (Sarah) and Millie Sewell (Zach), both of Watkinsville, Race Irvin, Mac Irvin, and Emma Jay Irvin, all of Swainsboro; greatgrandchildren, Stella Kate Marsh, Grayson Marsh, Paisley Brown, Berkley Brown, Chipper Brown, Madelyn Brantley, Kelton Gay, Emery Gay, Sullivan Scott; siblings, Betty Joyce King of Norristown, Tommy Edenfield (Lynn) of Dawsonville; many special nephews, nieces, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2022, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Casey Shaw officiating.
Interment will follow in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Rhett Scott, Race Irvin, Mac Irvin, Josh Gay, Logan Brantley, Kenny Brown, Edmond Marsh, and Robbie Gilder.
