Mr. Herbert H. "Herb" Henry, 75, of Swainsboro died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Henry was born in Emanuel County where he lived all his life. He was preceded in death by his parents Wylie D. Henry and Hattie Athine Kersey Henry. Mr. Henry served in the U S Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked at Auto Parts and Supply and was the owner and operator of Herbs Motorcycle Sales for 45 years. He loved cooking, fishing, riding motorcycles, spending time with his grandchildren and working on machinery. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Swainsboro.
Survivors include his daughter, Liz Henry Spooner of Washington GA; Grandchildren Margaret Reeves, Mary Kate Reeves, Madeline Reeves, Andrew Spooner, McKenzie Spooner and Wes Spooner all of Washington GA; one great granddaughter Maebrynn Reeves of Washington GA; brothers Robert (Evelyn)Henry and Alton (Bonnie) Henry both of Swainsboro; sisters Hazel (Paul) Bush, Gayle Gregory, Eloyse Farrow, Evelyn (Mike) Tillett and Scarlett (Ben) Odom all of Swainsboro; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Southside Baptist Church at 4 o'clock Monday, afternoon August 29, with the Reverends Earl Warnock and Herschel Clements officiating. Mr. Henry will Lie in State one hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Lamb Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday August 28, 2011at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Roy Lin Stroud, Rico Farrow, Jimmy Peebles, Mike Bush, Casey Henry and Gene Ragsdale.
