Mr. Hollis Gibson, 75, of Swainsboro passed away Tuesday evening, January 24, 2017 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Gibson was born April 4, 1941 in Tazewell, TN. to the late Herbert Gibson and Lucy Brooks Gibson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Otis Gibson. Mr. Gibson was drafted into the Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Nell Perkins Gibson of Swainsboro; sons, Joey Gibson (Dawn), and Jody Gibson both of Swainsboro; daughter, Buffy Gibson Hill (Daryl) of Swainsboro; sisters, Pauline Mallicoat (Ford) of Thornhill, TN., Lorine Harvey, and Maggaline Brooks (Leroy) both of Ewing, VA.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Robertson (Travis), Joseph Gibson, Brandon Hill, Katelyn Hill, Jahala Perkins, Brittany Perkins Crosby (Josh); great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Green; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eustus Perkins, Eulie Perkins, Elthel Perkins, and Alec Perkins who he loved like a son; special family friends, David & Patsy Wing, Ervin & Lynn Stapleton, Glenda Grimm and family ; several nieces, nephews, and friends who he loved very much.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 with Reverends Randy Walden and Ervin Stapleton officiating.
Interment will follow in the Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Nicky Perkins, Wayne Fennell, Larry Perkins, Matt Snowdon, Eric Perkins, and Ricky Henry.
Honorary Pallbearers are Micky Flanders, David Wing, Russell Collins, Buddy Lawson, Harvard Hudson, Jerry Fletcher, Bennie Walden, Bert Flanders, Wayne Page, and Lamar Kersey.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm. to 8 pm. Friday, January 27, 2017 at Chapman Funeral Home.
