Mrs. Iris Joann Smith, 57, of Louisville died Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the Jefferson County Hospital in Louisville following an extended illness.
Mrs. Smith was born April 13, 1957 in Swainsboro to James Calvin Roberson and Iris Christine Peebles Roberson. She was preceded in death by her father, James Calvin Roberson; son, Mark Johnson; brother, James “Man” Roberson. Mrs. Smith was a life long resident of Emanuel County and the surrounding areas.
Survivors include her mother, Iris Christine Peebles Roberson of Swainsboro; sons, Shane Johnson (Jerica DeFore) of Byron, Shannon Johnson of Ridgeway Illinois and Michael Johnson of Statesboro; daughters, Cindy Johnson of Jacksonville Florida and Kim Newsome of Swainsboro; sisters, Kathy Roberson of Swainsboro, Carol Sue Roberson of Atlanta and Dianne (Bobby) Sheppard of Davisboro; 18 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, November 13, 2014 with Speaker Lucas Allison officiating.
Interment will be in the Blundale Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening, November 13, 2014 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Should friends desire, in leu of flowers memorial may be made in memory of Mrs. Iris Joann Smith, 427 North Main St. Swainsboro, Georgia 30401.
