Mr. James Ray Bargeron, 83, of Kite passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born January 25, 1941, in Swainsboro to the late James Archie Bargeron and Jeanette Greenway Bargeron. Poppi, Pop-Pop, Ray-Ray or Dad, it didn’t matter what name you knew Ray by, you just knew he always had your back. A man born and raised outside of Summertown in the cotton fields, he left home to join the Army looking for more than a row to plow. After serving, he attended trade school and earned a degree as an electronic technician. He went on to spend several years working at Sportswear, then working for the next twenty as an industrial sewing machine mechanic around the world. Upon graduation from trade school, he married his wife of 63 years, Martha. They bought a farm in Kite and raised two boys, Jim and Tim. Ray’s hobbies were hunting and fishing, driving his Ford 2000 tractor, and taking care of his 20-acre farm. Above all, he loved spoiling his grandkids. The farm always had vegetables growing, with Ray planting and Martha tending. Considering that both of his sons live on the farm to this day, you can bet he made sure it would always be home. We love you, Pops. Ray is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerome Bargeron; and sister, Carolyn Foskey.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Bargeron of Kite; sons, Jimmy Bargeron and Tim Bargeron, both of Kite; brother, Charles Bargeron (Ann) of Metter; grandsons, Hunter Bargeron (Averi) and Greysn Bargeron, both of Kite, Holden Bargeron (Emily) of Clarkesville, TN; great-granddaughter, Beverly Everett of Kite; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Graveside Memorial Service will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 30, 2024, at Lamb’s Cemetery with Elder Steve McNure officiating.
