Mr. James Earl Sherrod, Sr., 74, of Stillmore passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at AU Medical Center in Augusta following an extended illness.
Mr. Sherrod was born October 16, 1946, in Graymont to the late Oliver Sherrod, Sr. and Annie Mae Alcott Sherrod. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother of his children, Gloria Sherrod; brothers, Bud Sherrod, Oliver Sherrod, Jr., Green Sherrod, Billy Sherrod; sisters, Annie Ruth Oglesby, Margaret Brown and Jeanette Boatright; son-in-law, Curtis Beckum; great-grandson, Grant Elliott Hill. Mr. Sherrod loved to fish, watch sports, and spend time with his family. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his sons, James Earl Sherrod, Jr. of Stillmore, Ronnie Sherrod (Teresa Holloway) of Metter; daughters, Shirley (James) Stapleton, Cindy (Kenneth) Moore, both of Swainsboro, Dorothy Beckum of Aline, Cynthia Sherrod of Stillmore; 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way, several nieces, nephews, in-laws and many friends.
Funeral Services will be 5:00 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021, in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend James Ervin Stapleton officiating.
Interment will follow at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Jesse Brown, Dale Brown, Jonathan Slater, Mark Slater, Kevin Slater, and Dylan Slater.
