Mr. James Bernard Canady, 81, of Nunez died Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness.
Mr. Canady was born in Garfield and was a long life resident of Emanuel County. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Canady and Catherine Wiggins Canady, wife Clyde T. Canady; sons, James B. “Jimmy” Canady, Jr. and Wayne Canady.
Mr. Canady loved building bird houses and bird feeders. He liked watching western movies and going hunting and fishing. Mr. Canady was a member of Nunez Baptist Church for 65 years.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Flanders Canady of Nunez; grandchildren, James B. “Jamie” (Karen) Canady III of Summertown, Christopher Lee (Jennifer) Canady of Stillmore, Mark Wayne (Shannon) Canady of Kite, Renee Canady (Johnny) Coughlin of Columbia S.C., Joseph Edwin (Heather) Canady of Swainsboro; stepsons, Daniel C. (Angela) Dyches, Jr. of Statesboro, Keith Dyches of Swainsboro; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 2 o’clock Friday, afternoon December 16, 2011 with Reverend Lee Gaston officiating. Burial will be in the Eastbrook Cemetery near Swainsboro.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday December 15, 2011 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Thompson, Ricky Thompson, James Beckham, Tim Thompson, Kevin Gay, and Jeff Brewer.
Honorary Pallbearers will be John Terwilliger, Tyson Stephens and Ricky Hooks.
