James B. "J.B." Colston

November 25, 1935 — April 5, 2012

Mr. James B. “J.B.” Colston, 76, of Kite died Thursday morning, April 5, 2012 at his daughters home following a brief illness.

Mr. Colston was born in Kite. He moved to Charleston SC later in life where he retired as a machinist before moving back to Kite.   Mr. Colston was preceded in death by his father Morgan Colston; sisters, Betty Colston and Shirley Hutchinson; brothers, Jerrald Colston and Freddie Colston; grandson, Jerry McAlister.

Mr. Colston was a machinist for West Vaco Paper Mill where he was shop foreman and never missed a day of work.  He was past president and vice president of the AFLCIO Union and served in the U. S. Marine Corps.  Mr. Colston was an Evangelist and was a member of a gospel quarter for many years.  He attended the Kite Church of God for 18 years.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Colston of Kite; mother, Bonita Windham Colston of Kite; son, Randy (Sandy) Colston of Hartsville SC; daughters, Debra Smoak of Goose Creek SC, Sandra (Bobby) Pitts of Kite, and Regina (Jim) Boodle of Summerville SC; brothers, Johnnie (Patsy) Colston of Kite, Joe (Doris) Colston of Bartow, and Sammy (Lorraine) Colston of Kite; sisters, Janelle (Joe) Langley  and Peggy (Bill) Day both of Kite; grandchildren, J. C. Colston, Michaela Folk, Carolyne Folk, Amy McAlister Jones, Sheldon Colston, Jessica Boodle, Amber Boodle, Rebecca Boodle, Angel Taylor, Rachel Mims, Jeffrey Smoak, and Rickey Smoak; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews

Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11 o’clock Saturday, morning April 7, 2012 with Reverends Bobby Miller and Allen Meeks officiating.  Burial will be in the Rehoboth cemetery near Kite.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2012 at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Robert Sheldon Colston, Rickey Smoak, Jeffrey Smoak, Lex Taylor, Joe Colston and Clint Thompson.
