James E. “Buddy” Johnson lost his battle to cancer on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Serenity Place in Dublin, GA. He is totally healed and is no longer suffering.
Buddy was born in Jenkins County on July 19, 1942 to the late James C. Johnson and Lois Lamb Johnson. He was survived by 2 loving sons, Russell M. Johnson of Kite, GA and Reid E. Johnson (Shelly) of Dublin, GA; Sister - Helen J. Braddy (Sonny) of Metter, Ga; Niece - Belinda B. Warnell (Bill) of Commerce, GA; Nephew - Butch Braddy of Savannah, GA; 1 great nephew; and 2 great nieces.
Buddy had a successful career in banking of 35 years beginning in 1964. He worked with Central Bank in Swainsboro for 16 years, Bank of Millen for 5 years, and retired in 1999 from Durden Banking Company in Twin City after 14 years. After his retirement he made his home on his family’s farm in Twin City. He was an avid fisherman at Shellman’s Bluff and Bennett’s Landing. He was passionate about his garden and always showed his generosity by sharing his harvest with those he loved. He will be sorely missed and never forgotten.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home 6:00 PM Friday evening, June 24, 2016 with Reverend Bunny Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Garfield.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until time of service Friday evening, June 24, 2016 at Chapman Funeral Home. The family will also be receiving friends at 84 Beagle Rd. Twin City, Ga.
Pallbearers are Travis Beach, Ned Donaldson, Lew Donaldson, Toby Johnson, Kyle Beach, and Dakota Beach.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made in honor of Mr. Johnson to Serenity Place 504 Parker Dairy Rd. Dublin, Ga. 31021.
