Mr. James Robert Mimbs, Sr., 72, of Meeks died Thursday evening, September 4, 2014 at the Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin following an extended illness.
Mr. Mimbs was born December 23, 1941 in Meeks to the late Rastus Mimbs and Myrtice Riner Mimbs. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Larry Bedgood. Mr. Mimbs was a life long resident of the Meeks Community. His hobbies were fishing, gardening and raising birds. He was known as the Mayor of Meeks by family and friends.
Survivors include his son, Bob (Pam) Mimbs of Meeks; daughters, Lynn Mimbs (Jerry Scarboro) of Meeks, Kathy (Steve) Riner of Swainsboro, Jenny (Jody) Scott of Wrightsville; brother, Duaine (Carolyn) Mimbs of Meeks; sister Kay (Lee) Webb of Meeks; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, September 7, 2014 with Reverends Gary Green and Phil Wilson officiating.
Interment will be in the Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Kite.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening, September 6, 2014 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Wayne Scarboro, Charles Wilcher, Tom Finley, John Fleming, Brent Youmans and Verlon Coleman.
