Mr. Jerry Murphy, Jr., 56, of Swainsboro passed away Sunday evening, January 8, 2017 at Emanuel Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Murphy was born April 27, 1960 in Springfield, Ma. to the late Gerard P. Murphy, Sr. and Jean Summers Murphy. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas Murphy. Mr. Murphy went to the University of Miami where he played football for the Miami Hurricanes, and he also received a degree in Business. Eleven years ago, he moved to Swainsboro and went to work for Daniels Chevrolet as the Director of Finance, he loved his job and his Daniels Family. Mr. Murphy was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed his family, football, and watching Logan ride motocross. Mr. Murphy was of the Catholic Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Tiffany S. Murphy of Swainsboro; sons, Logan Murphy, Sloan Murphy, and Mason Murphy all of Swainsboro; daughter, Erica Murphy of Michigan; sisters, Kathy (Todd) Tremblay, and Maura-Missy Lessard both of Massachusetts; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 with Reverend Mark Gala officiating.
Interment will follow in the Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum.
Pallbearers are Logan Murphy, Lee Stewart, Richard Daniels, Ed Daniels, Sam Daniels, Ricky Collins, Jerry Howell, and Don Bishop.
Honorary Pallbearers are Employees of Daniels Chevrolet.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm. to 7 pm. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Chapman Funeral Home.
