Mr. Jimmie W. "Jim" Moore, 75, of Kite passed away Monday night, January 19, 2015 at the Emanuel Medical Center in Swainsboro following an extended illness.
Mr. Moore was born June 5, 1939 in Nunez to the late Rufus Clyde Moore and Zoie Lee Coleman Moore. He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Moore; daughter, Wanda ; sisters, Margaret Proctor and Johnnie Clyde Wolford. Mr. Moore lived in Emanuel County until 1999 when he moved to Kite. He loved fishing, hunting and gardening. Mr. Moore retired from Swainsboro Supply after 55 years of service as the receiving Supervisor. He was a member of Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church near Kite.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Moore of Kite; brothers, Lamar (Joyce) Moore, Russell (Judy) Moore and Steelie (Connie) Moore all of Swainsboro; sister, Mary Ann Alwine of Lawrenceville; step-sons, Thomas Ray (Sherry) Purvis, Tanny Glenn (Debbie) and Christopher (Rachael) Hilson all of Kite; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church in Kite at 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning, January 22, 2015 with Elder Tommy McGee and Reverend Rusty Moore officiating. Mr. Moore will Lie in State one hour prior to service.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, January 21, 2015 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jim Harrell, Joel Manning, Russ Harrell, Chris Hilson, Hunter Moore and Tony Moore.
Honorary Pallbearers are Glenn Price, Tanny Purvis, Ray Purvis and employees of Swainsboro Supply.
