Joan Elaine Achey

Joan Elaine Achey,72, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at PruittHealth Nursing home surrounded by her family. She was born on July 30, 1953, in Swainsboro to the late Ivey Nunn and Shirley Dean Glisson. Joan moved from Swainsboro to Charleston, SC where she raised her children. She worked at North Safety Products for 28 years before retiring. She eventually moved back to Swainsboro to be closer to her family. Joan loved to spend time outdoors and taking road trips. She could be found driving around and singing along to her oldies. Her favorite place to go was the beach or fishing. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren often talking about them. Mrs. Achey is survived by her husband of 48 years Stephen, son Jimmy Johnson, daughter Shirley Marie (Donald) Wilcox, son Stephen Matthew (Rebecca) Achey; grandchildren Gabrielle, Kaitlynn, Jessica, Sean, Jimmy, Otto, and Elin; 2 great-grandchildren Dax and Axl; her sisters Mary Ann (Morris) Brantley, Sybil (Brad) Kirby, June Johnson, Bobbie Shirey ,Faye (Donald) Hall, Debra (Charles) Hadden; brothers, Wayne Nunn, Larry (Teresa) Ely; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Achey is preceded in death by her mother, stepfather, several aunts and uncles, brothers Tony, Jerry, Howard, Ronald, and sister Judy.
