Mrs. Jo Ann Lumley Smith, 73, of Swainsboro died Saturday night, November 29, 2014 at the Emanuel Medical Center in Swainsboro following an extended illness.

Mrs. Smith was born September 3, 1941 in Soperton Georgia to the late Arthur Stanley Lumley and Lorene Brinson Lumley.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Crantford Smith; brothers, Jimmy Lumley and Johnny Lumley; sister, Flo Mae Steptoe.  She lived all her adult life in Emanuel County.  Mrs. Smith was a retired seamstress from Argo Mills.  She loved traveling, watching QVC, doing word search and loved spending time with her family.  Mrs. Smith was a member of the Rock Worship Center in Stillmore and a Sunday School Teacher.

Survivors include her sons, Gene (Cris) Smith  and Stanley Smith both of Swainsboro; daughters, Faye (Ronnie) Page of Albertville, AL and Jeanie (Donald Lee) Hooks of Swainsboro; sister, Joyce (Herb) meeks of Nichols and Jearldene (Gary) Bracewell of East Dublin; grandchildren, Loren (Jennie) Page, Jacob (Ashley) Jackson, Brandon Hooks (Jessica Neal), Justin Hooks, Sport Hooks, Joni Page, Becky Page, Mandy Page, Carley Smith and Trey Smith; 19 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Rock Worship Center in Stillmore at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, December 2, 2014 with Reverends Ronnie Collins and Don Carroll officiating.

Interment will be in the Holton’s Chapel Cemetery near Covena.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening, December 1, 2014 at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Robert Beckum, Jess Clifton, James Crowe, Keith Johnson, James Meade, Mitchell Steptoe.

Honorary Pallbearers are Buck Hooks and Roy Smith.
