Joel B. Griffin

Mr. Joel B. Griffin, 83, of Grovetown went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus, surrounded by his family Sunday, December 1, 2019 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Griffin was born December 13, 1935 in Stillmore to the late Burnice Griffin and Harvey Lee Smith Griffin.    He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Beth Griffin Woods; son, Jeff Griffin; brother, Herbert Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a native of Stillmore, Georgia. He graduated from Swainsboro High School, where he played football. Mr. Griffin served in Georgia Army National Guard from 1953 to 1956. He retired from Savannah River Plant after 38 years of service. Mr. Griffin enjoyed playing golf and was an avid bass fisherman. He was a member of Harvest Point Fellowship Baptist Church

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty Griffin of Grovetown; son, Ricky Griffin of Grovetown; grandchildren, Patti (Julian) Stevenson, Mandi (Todd) Purcell, Jessica (Matthew) Kitchens, Collin Griffin, Halie Griffin; great-grandchildren, Julia (Eric) Sorrells, Olivia Stevenson, Tori Stevenson, Melanie Purcell, Macie Purcell, Gabriella Kitchens, Logan Kitchens; great-great-granddaughter, Una Sorrells; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Union Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Norris and Reverend Ray Jenkins officiating.

Pallbearers are Julian Stevenson, Todd Purcell, Matthew Kitchens, Collin Griffin, Johnny Gay and Eric Sorrells.
