Joey "Spoojoe" Harold Bonds

Joey Harold “Spoojoe” Bonds, 44, of Reidsville passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022, at his residence.

Joey was born November 21, 1977, in Atlanta to David Bonds and Mary Stroud Smith. He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents, Ralph Stroud, Evelyn Johnson; best friend, Ben Bowden.

Joey was a graduate of the police academy and worked many years as a bartender at Deja Groove and other establishments in Savannah. Joey was presently working in sales at Kyle Durrence Chevorlet in Claxton, where he loved his customers and co-workers. Joey had a genuine love for life, people, animals, and the Georgia Bulldogs. As quoted by one of his classmates, “You literally can’t think of Joey and not smile.”

He is survived by his mother, Mary Stroud Smith of Garfield; son, Justin Wilson of Statesboro; love of his life, Maria Serrano of Reidsville; brother, David Scott Bonds of Gainesville; sisters, Melanie Boswell (Keith) of Carolina Beach, NC, Kim Rodriguez (Tito) of New Smyrna Beach, FL; nieces and nephews, Jessica Guinn, Raven Holden, Dylan Holden, Trevor Holden; great-nieces, Emma Guinn, Ellie Clemmons; pets, Johnny “Cash”, Bonnie, Smokes, Tilly, Dixie; and many friends.

His family is sure that his best friend, Ben, was waiting for him at the Pearly Gates.

Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2022, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2022, at Chapman Funeral Home.
