Mr. John Ray Scott, 75, of Wrightsville passed on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Scott Health and Rehab with his family by his side.

Mr. John Ray Scott was born March 1, 1948, in Laurens County to Robert Pratt Scott and Gladyne Scott. He leaves behind a wife of 55 years, Brenda Burgamy Scott; sons, Jody Scott (Jenny), Jonathan Scott (Mandy); grandchildren, Jake (Hanna), Jasmine (Jeremy), Jersey, Jax (Abigail), Josey, and Journey; great grandchildren, Jack, Jace and Jensen, all of Wrightsville; siblings, Jackie Williams of Scott, Joel Scott (Judy) of Wrightsville, and Judy Scott Jackson (Loy) of Kentucky; brother-in-laws, Donnie Burgamy (Kathy), Gene McCoy (Lowie), Ray McCoy (Charlene), and Franklin Pate; sister-in-law, Kathy Warren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. John was a member of New Home Baptist Church, a member of Johnson County Farm Bureau, and a past member of the Wrightsville Jaycees. He was a truck driver, having worked in the trucking industry for over 50 years. He drove a low-boy truck for W.F. Jackson Co, Inc, Howard Sheppard, Inc. and Mike Taylor, Inc. He was always doing odd jobs for family and friends. He was the type of man to give you the shirt off of his back.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

The family extends their appreciation to the staff at Scott Health and Rehab for their care provided to Mr. John.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, 2023 at New Home Baptist Church with Reverend Jason Edenfield officiating.

Private interment will follow at New Home Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service at New Home Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Pratt Scott, Jerry Williams, Jeff Jackson, Doug Jackson, Jottie Burgamy, Ashley Burgamy, Mike Cherry, Brett Padgett, and Josh McCoy.

Honorary Pallbearers will be New Home Baptist Church Senior Adult Sunday School Class, Twan Broughan, Buddy Broughan, Roy & Teresa Powell, Reverend Phil Wilson, Franklin Pate, Jimmy Bailey, Ms. Janie McNeely.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Scott’s name to New Home Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Kay Harrison, 503 Fortner Road, Kite, GA 31049.
