Mr. Johnny Morris Ware, 75, of Swainsboro passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Ware was born in Emanuel County and graduated from Swainsboro High School in 1964. Johnny began his working career as a meat cutter with Piggly Wiggly Southern while still in high school. From 1967-1971, Mr. Ware served the United States in the Department of the Army National Guard of Georgia Co A (-) 878 Engineer Battalion. Mr. Ware was co-owner of Ware Packing Company. He also worked in supervisory positions for various meat packing facilities over the years. Mr. Ware was co-owner of Ware’s BBQ, LLC.
Johnny Ware was a gifted wood carver by hobby. He loved to “whittle”. He was honored to carve and donate a life-size nativity which is housed at the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro. He was a collector of pocketknives, old guns, and old hand saws. Mr. Ware enjoyed nature and being outdoors. He loved working in the yards with his wife, going exploring for carving/whittling wood, traveling, and cooking for family and friends. Mr. Ware enjoyed doing any project his grandchildren wanted to tackle. He loved his family and his Lord and Savior.
Mr. Ware attended First Baptist Church of Swainsboro. He was ordained a deacon at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Johnny Ware felt blessed to have been a leader of the Royal Ambassadors (R.A. Boys) of Hillcrest Baptist Church in the late 1970s and 1980s and was very proud of their accomplishments in living for Jesus.
Johnny Morris Ware was preceded in death by his father, Jody Crawford “Buck” Ware; and mother, Virginia Opal Ware.
Survivors include: his wife of 51 years, Gail Martin Ware of Swainsboro; one son and daughter-in-law, Jody Martin Ware and Jennifer of Swainsboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Johnna Marlin Ware Eaton and Justin of Statesboro; five grandchildren, Madison Padgett and Harper Ware of Swainsboro, Khloe Moore, Elin Eaton and Ellis Eaton of Statesboro; one brother and sister-in-law, Joe Durham Ware and Cynthia Owens Ware of Swainsboro; mother-in-law, Margaret Curl Martin of Swainsboro; sister-in-law, Jayne N. Martin of Swainsboro, nieces/nephews/great nieces/great nephews, Jansen Ware, Jacey Story, Jarrett Ware, Roger Martin III (Trip), Brandy Gavetti, Bowen Ware, Hudson Ware, Raylen Ware, Jenna Ware, Madi Story, and Ivey Story; Special Caregiver, Willie Brown.
There will be an open visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 16, 2021 at Chapman Funeral Home. Family will not be present during this time due to Covid safety.
Funeral services will be private on Tuesday August 17, 2021. The family will be greeting visitors on Tuesday with a drive-through visitation at 10:30 a.m at 27 Live Oak Dr, Swainsboro, GA 30401. Respectfully we ask visitors to remain in vehicles for Covid safety. There will be directions for the drive- through process. The family will be under a Chapman Funeral Home tent to greet you in your car and share your love and memories of this great man.
Interment will also be private in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Blaine Burrell, George Smith, Billy Boulineau, Richard Reddish, Ronnie Womack, Cooper Henry.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Swainsboro High School class of 1964, the Royal Ambassadors (R.A. Boys) from the late 1970s and 1980s of Hillcrest Baptist Church, former employees of Ware’s Bar-B-Que and Ware’s Old Mill Restaurant.
