Mr. John R. “Johnny” Roberts, III, 73, of Swainsboro passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 at AU Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Roberts was born August 16, 1947 in Tucker, GA. to the late John R. Roberts, Jr., and Jeanette Avery Roberts. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jimmy Roberts; sister, Betty Roberts Collins. Mr. Roberts attended Swainsboro High School. He loved fishing, gospel music, and helping people, he never met a stranger. Mr. Roberts was a member of Swainsboro First Baptist Church most of his life where he was very active in the Sunday School Programs, he later moved his membership to Canoochee Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Nancy Roberts of Swainsboro; brother-in-law, James Collins of Metter; nieces, Alisa (Joe) Stockov of Claremont, N.C., Tammie (Bryan) Rountree of Canoochee, and Buffy (Marc) Snellgrove of Nunez; nephews, Jim Roberts of Swainsboro, and Alf (Kristy) Wimberly of Swainsboro; step-nephews, Brad (Misty) Collins of Soperton, and Bryson (Kelly) Collins of Metter; several great nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2021 in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating.
Interment will follow in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Joe Stockov, Jim Roberts, Bryan Rountree, Marc Snellgrove, and Alf Wimberly.
