Jonathan David Waters

Mr. Jonathan “John” David Waters, 50, passed away at his residence on July 13, 2025 in Swainsboro, GA.

John was born in Metter, GA in 1974. He graduated from Metter High School where he was the President of the Science Club. He was awarded many degrees in his time including a Doctor of Divinity, A Master of Science and Psychology from Cambridge University, and had obtained his certification as a Peer Specialist and Forensic Peer Mentor in Georgia.

He is preceded in death by his father, Johnny W. Waters, step-father, Hugh Peterson Martin, his grandparents, J.D. Waters and Louise Waters and J.D. Beckworth and Bertha Downs Beckworth.

He is survived by his mother, Margie Martin, his sister, Tammy S. Brown, both of Swainsboro, GA, his step-sister, Angie (Miles) Martin Smith, his step-brother, Chuck Martin, both of Augusta, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at the Swainsboro First Church of the Nazarene in Swainsboro with Rev. Tim Nary officiating at 3:00pm.

The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Eastbrook Cemetery.
