Keith Randall Thompson

Mr. Keith Randall Thompson, 67, of Swainsboro, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023, at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Thompson was born May 28, 1955, in Swainsboro, GA. to W. Ray Thompson and Betty Wilson Sheffield. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Annette Thompson; brother, Jimmy Scott. He was a member of Emanuel Christian Ministries where he served as a Deacon.  Keith graduated from Swainsboro High School in 1973.  He then graduated from Athens Technical College with a degree in commercial art.  He was owner and operator of several businesses throughout the years, most notably Thompson’s Minit Mart.

He was very active in the community, and Keith was named person of the year by Swainsboro Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce in 2011.  He has served as an Emanuel County Commissioner since 1999.  Keith also served on the board of directors for Spivey State Bank.  He was also chosen to serve on several other boards throughout the years.

Keith had a larger-than-life personality and enjoyed life to the fullest.  He was a loving husband and father and enjoyed entertaining his family and friends, but most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Peebles Thompson of Swainsboro; son, Kal Mason Thompson of Swainsboro; brothers, Bill Thompson (Kim) of Richmond Hill, Roy A. Thompson (Gail) of Swainsboro, and Lynn Scott (Margie) of Melbourne, Florida; sister-in-law, Lisa Lively (Jimmy) of Monroe; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Emanuel Christian Ministries with Reverend Brad McKenzie officiating.

Interment will follow at Eastbrook Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Emanuel Christian Ministries.

Pallbearers are Bill Simmons, Smith Edenfield, Bill Devane, Ricky Thompson, Lynn Thompson, Jimmy Lively, Steve Kirby, David Coleman, Scott Cochran, Brent Clifton, Jimmy Hadden, and Joey Price.

Honorary pallbearers will be Emanuel County Board of Commissioners.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Keith Thompson to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
