Mr. Kelvin Lamar Hopkins, 62, of Swainsboro passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024, at his residence, following a brief illness.
Mr. Hopkins was born September 15, 1961, in Soperton to Mr. Elmo Hopkins and Atelia Sweat. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronnie Hopkins; son-in-law, Josh Faulkner.
Kelvin was a devoted Christian. He was always a jolly fellow who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed model cars and was an avid rock and arrowhead collector. He was also a lover of music. Kelvin looked forward to his “coffee” time with his girls and his dog, Dolly, who was his best friend. He always referred to his three daughters as his darlings. His family, especially his grandchildren, were his world. Kelvin enjoyed his first job at Franklin Memorial Library. There he maintained the landscape and loved to plant flowers. Kelvin graduated from Swainsboro High School and attended Swainsboro Technical College where he obtained a degree in industrial maintenance. He was employed by the Department of Administrative Services Surplus Property Warehouse for several years and enjoyed working there until his retirement. Kelvin served eight years in the National Guard.
Mr. Hopkins is survived by the mother of his children, Patricia A. Wheeler; daughters, Sheyna Faulkner, Jessica Hopkins, and Erika (Cody)Blackmon; grandchildren, Carter Miles Hayes, Kaitlann Faith Faulkner, Kyler Lane Blackmon; brother, Donnie Hopkins.
A Memorial Service will be announced by Chapman Funeral home at a later date to be held in Harlem, Georgia.
