Mr. Kenneth Johnson, 86, of Garfield passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Johnson was born April 4, 1934 in Garfield to the late Waylan Johnson and Ruby Larrimore Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara J. Gordy. Mr. Johnson was a former City Council Member and former Mayor of the city of Garfield, also a volunteer with the Garfield Fire Dept. He was a Deacon at Garfield Baptist Church since 1962 and was the song leader for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Maudine C. Johnson of Garfield; son, Steve (Becky) Johnson of Canoochee; daughter, Kathy (Richard) Johnson of Garfield and Connie (Ronnie) Turner of Garfield; sister, Betty J. Bussiere of Herndon; grandchildren, Clay (Dori) Johnson, Jodi (Blake) Marsh, Amanda Beasley (Brannon Bush), Clint (Natalie) Turner, Alicia (Nicholas) Johnson, Chad (Marlee) Turner, Chase Johnson, Brooke (Rick) Marsh; 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 24, 2020 11:00 a.m. at Garfield Baptist Church with Reverend Max Alderman, Reverend Bob Conley, and Chaplain Franklin Sasser officiating.
Interment will follow at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 23, 2020 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Clay Johnson, Chase Johnson, Clint Turner, Chad Turner, Nicholas Johnson, Blake Marsh, Brannon Bush.
In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6 feet rule will be enforced during visitation and service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
