Mr. Lewis Carey Bishop, 71, of Davisboro passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Wrightsville Manor Health and Rehab. He was born July 27, 1954, in Swainsboro to the late Ruel Wesley Bishop and Frances Louise Woods Bishop.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Bishop.
Mr Bishop spent most of his life in Emanuel County before moving to Davisboro. He was always busy. If he wasn’t driving a truck he was working on a motor, a race car or a house. If he wasn’t working on it, he was talking about it. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do when he put his mind to it.
He was a member of Bishop Chapel Baptist Church. He attended Riddleville Baptist Church before going to the nursing home. He spent the last 2 1/2 years at Wrightsville Manor where he quickly became a favorite
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Elizabeth Bishop of Davisboro; children, Kelli Dickens (Chris) of Soperton, Carly Barlow of Savannah, J.J. Osborne of Davisboro; stepchildren, C.G. Cramer, Jo Beth Giles (Bobby), both of Davisboro, Linda Barlow of Sandersville; granddaughter, Alexis Dickens; step grandchildren, T.J. Barlow, Journey Barlow, Arianna Miles; brothers, Henry Bishop (Lynda) of Midville, Richard Bishop (Teresa) of Ellabelle; sisters, Maudi Lou “Sue” Smith, Patty Hart (Stanley), Betty Coxwell (James), Nadine Graham, Diane Price, all of Swainsboro, Ann Brown of Summertown; special nephew, Scottie Burke (Ashley); several nieces, nephews and other family members.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Dellwood Baptist Church with Reverend Joe Bedgood officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Chapman Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Interment will be held at Hall’s Cemetery with Pastor Andy Carter speaking.
Pallbearers include Ben Faircloth, Henry Fulghum, Allen Durden, Timmy Thompson, Nicky Drake, and Kevin Strange.
Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Wayne Fields, Glenn Johnson and DeWayne McKinney.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place,
Memphis, TN 38105.
