Lillian S. Hodges

October 31, 1933 — November 2, 2015

Mrs. Lillian S. Hodges, 82, of Swainsboro passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at her residence following an extended illness.

Mrs. Hodges was born October 31, 1933 in Swainsboro to the late Harvey Sherrod and Lula Scott Sherrod.  She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Rich and Marjorie Johnson.  Mrs. Hodges was a devoted wife of 65 years.  She retired after 31 years of service from the City of Swainsboro as a teller and payroll clerk.  Mrs. Hodges was a faithful member of the Swainsboro Free Will Baptist church and sung in the choir since 1971.  She was an excellent cook and hostess.  Mrs. Hodges was an attentive mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and she loved her family.
Survivors include her husband, Edward L “Ed” Hodges of Swainsboro; sons, Eddie (Elizabeth) Hodges of Hendersonville, TN and Richard (Freda) Hodges of Kathleen GA; brother, Bobby Sherrod of Twin City; sisters, Janie Perkins of Waynesboro, Louise Barker of Millen and Johnnie (Pete) Canady of Swainsboro; grandchildren, John (Heather) Hodges of Swainsboro, Samuel (Melissa) Hodges of Richlands NC, Stephen (Cori) Hodges of Greenbrier, TN, David (Heather) Hodges of Perry, and Sarah Hodges of Franklin, TN; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning, November 5, 2015 with Reverends Buddy Morris and Steve Dowless officiating.  Mrs. Hodges will Lie in State one hour prior to service.

Interment will be in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening, November 4, 2015 at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are grandsons and nephews.

Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Lillian S. Hodges, c/o Swainsboro Free Will Baptist Church, 434 Lambs Bridge Rd., Swainsboro, GA 30401.
