Mrs. Linda G. Slawson, 70, of Midville died Friday night, February 15, 2013 at the Emanuel Medical Center in Swainsboro following an extended illness.
Mrs. Slawson was born and a life long resident of Emanuel County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Felton Elkins and Britte Bryant Elkins; husband, Alton Clayton Slawson; son, Alton Clayton Slawson, Jr. Mrs. Slawson was a 1961 graduate from ECI. She worked in book keeping at The Central Bank for 25 years. Mrs. Slawson loved reading, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Hawhammock Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Lynn (Lenny) Pasquale of Midville & Danea Yawn of Charlottesville, VA; son, Phillip (Shauna) Slawson of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Donald (Peggy) Elkins of Atlanta; grandchildren, Brianne Yawn of Midville, Brent Yawn of Charlottesville, VA, Clayton Slawson of Madison CT, Josh (Tonya) Gervais & Nicole Gervais both of Jacksonville, FL, Jessica Pasquale of Statesboro, Zack Pasquale of Augusta, Nathan Greene and Ashton Greene both of Midville; great grandchildren, Jacob Yawn of Midville, Kathryn Gervais of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Hawhammock Baptist Church at 11 o’clock Monday, morning February 18, 2013 with Reverend Cail Pressey officiating. Mrs. Slawson will Lie in State one hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Eastbrook Cemetery near Swainsboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Eric Bernard, Don Farrow, Billy Edenfield, Andy Walden, Johnny McCuen and Mutt Kennedy.
