Lizzie Rountree Burton

On August 22, 2025, God called Mrs. Lizzie Beth Burton home. Lizzie was born on January 22, 1941, in Swainsboro to the late Wilkerson Rountree and Willie Mae Cross. She is preceded in death by her parents; Daughter, Diane Rountree; 5 brothers; and 6 sisters.

Mrs. Burton loved cooking, she worked at Tick Tock Restaurant, B’s Diner, and McKinney’s Pond. She was also a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Burton is survived by her daughters, Daisy Rountree, Phyllis Rountree, Kenosha Worthen; sons, Bruce Sutton (Precious), Ray Rountree; sister, Corine Brady (James); 18 grandchildren; a great host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2025, at Trinity Baptist Church with Reverend Charles Williams officiating..

Interment will be at Swainsboro City Cemetery following the funeral service.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Mrs. Lizzie’s sons, grandsons, and nephews.
